Running the Metadata Editor

Creation of XML Metadata Files
- The Metadata Editor enables the creation of the metadata XML files that must be associated to datasets and layers when uploading them in the Workstation.
- An example output of the Metadata Editor is included in this directory (See: example_output_metadata.xml ).
To access the Metadata Editor:
- Login into the Workstation
- From the Main Menu, click on "Data Management" --> "Metadata Editor".
Entering Metadata information:
You can either use an existing dataset type (template) or create a new one.
To use an existing template
- Select the option Get an Existing Template and select one of the template from the drop-down list. The metadata specifications of the selected template are available in dataset type or DBFeatureLayer if a feature layer), then enter the relevant information in the fields (see Appendix 2 for descriptions of the metadata field contents).
- Select the Tab "Keys" and enter relevant data. Make sure that all mandatory fields are entered
- Select the Tab "General Information" and enter relevant data. Make sure that all mandatory fields are entered
Saving XML files:
- When you have filled in all fields, click "Get Metadata Archive" to obtain a ZIP file with the Metadata XML file and the CSV template for the data. Please note that the XLS version of the data templates can also be downloaded from Appendix 1: dataset types
Uploading Metadata files
- Metadata file must be uploaded together with the datasets/layers they refer to (see Uploading data).
